An excellent way to power up your social bookmarking campaigns. We all know that social bookmarking is a powerful traffic driving tool.  Not only that, but it's a great link building tool as well.  If you have been keeping up with our newsletter, however, you will remember that many of the social bookmarking sites like to tag outgoing links as "no-follow", reducing the value you get when using this method of link building. Well, we have a solution to enable you to get links from  your social bookmarking campaign that do not include this "no-follow" tag! Now before we get started, let's recognize that there are numerous social bookmarking sites out there.  We cannot go over each one in this edition, so we are going to focus on one of the larger ones for our example, Delicious. Delicious is a great social bookmarking site.  Popular stories can generate a good amount of traffic, but they tag your outgoing links with the "no-follow" tag.

What many don't realize, however, is that the Delicious (and most other social bookmarking sites) offers an RSS feed for your bookmark page.  Pretty mundane, right? Wrong, this RSS feed is going to be a valuable tool for your link promotion.  The links on your bookmarking page are all no-follow, but these same exact links in the RSS feed do not have the no-follow tag. How do we take advantage of this?  By promoting your RSS feed.

If you have a WordPress blog, you can put your RSS feed there.  Squiddo page?  Add your Rss feed.  Promote the pages pointing to your RSS feed, and you will boost the value of your links in that RSS feed (your bookmarks). To find the address of your RSS feed, simply scroll down to the bottom of your Delicious user page and click on "RSS feed for these bookmarks".  Copy and paste the URL and you're in business! Keep an eye out for more tips on how to get the most out of your social bookmarking efforts, along with other SEO advice.
